1989/1994 Class of Mayflower School Ikenne gives back to the School

To commemorate their 30th graduation anniversary, the 1989/1994 Class Set of Mayflower School, Ikenne, Ogun State are set to commission a 240-bed Boys’ Hostel donated to the school.

The hostel will be inaugurated as one of the major highlights of the School’s 68th Founders’ Day anniversary celebration, which takes place at Ikenne from January 23rd to 28th, 2024.

The Project Coordinator, Ex-May Wale Abdul, who coincidentally is the National President of Mayflower Old Students Association (MOSA), said that the hostel project is the Set’s way of giving back to their Alma Mater and helping to improve the learning environment for current students.

“We are grateful for the education we received at Mayflower School under the tutelage of Late Dr. Tai Solarin, and we want to give back to the school in a meaningful way,” said Abdul. “This hostel project will provide our current male students with a comfortable and conducive place to live and study.”

The Set Chairperson, Ex-May Mrs. Funmi Adelokun (nee Kasim), said that the hostel project is a testament to the strong bond that the Set members share with each other and with their school.

“We are a very close-knit set, and we are proud of what we have accomplished in the past 30 years,” said Mrs Adelokun. “This hostel project is a symbol of our unity and our commitment to Mayflower School having donated an ultra modern clinic to commemorate our 25th anniversary in 2019.”

Ex-May Mrs Sumbo Sogunle -Muniru, the Immediate Past Chairperson of the Set, commended the Set members for their generosity and for their commitment to giving back to their Alma Mater.

“This hostel project is a laudable initiative just as the Clinic building donated by the Class Set, and it is a testament to the character and values of the 1989/94 Set of Mayflower School,” said Mrs Sumbo Sogunle -Muniru. “I am confident that this hostel will make a significant difference in the lives of our current students and generations of students to come into Mayflower”
