Ogun Government Unveils Multi-Sectoral Relief Initiatives Amid Economic Challenges

In response to the growing concerns expressed by citizens regarding escalating food prices, shortages, and the depreciation of the naira, the state administration has unveiled a comprehensive series of initiatives designed to alleviate the burden on the populace during this challenging period. The relief measures, totaling approximately ₦5 billion, will be implemented across key sectors of the state economy.

*Education Sector:*

1. A provision of a minimum of five exercise books to all 850,000 students in public primary and secondary schools.

2. A one-time education support grant of ₦10,000 for at least 100,000 pupils in public primary and secondary schools.

3. An education grant of ₦50,000 each to 27,600 indigent students in various tertiary institutions nationwide.

*Health Sector:*

1. Insurance health cover extended to over 70,000 beneficiaries, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, market women, and members of the informal sector.

2. The Ibidero Scheme offering free prenatal care, an additional ₦5,000 per birth, and free postnatal care to pregnant women in state hospitals and primary health care centers.

*Agricultural Sector:*

1. Distribution of food palliatives, including rice and other items, to around 300,000 households across the state.

*Civil Service:*

1. Commencement of clearing the backlog of inherited deductions in the civil service with a monthly allocation of ₦500 million.

2. Consistent monthly payment of ₦10,000 transport allowance to all civil servants over the past 8 months.
