Dapo Abiodun Hails Arch. Muyiwa Oki, Youngest and First Black President of Royal Institute of British Architects

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Architect Muyiwa Oki, a Nigerian-born British architect, on his historic achievement as the youngest and first black President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) at the age of 32.
Governor Abiodun described Oki’s accomplishment as “truly remarkable” and encouraged him to utilize his position to foster collaboration, particularly in research and development initiatives, to benefit his home state.
The Governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to urban renewal and affordable housing, having constructed approximately 3,500 affordable houses in Kobape and undertaken similar projects in Sagamu, Ota, Ilaro, and Ijebu-Ode. He emphasized the importance of considering the entire housing ecosystem, from architectural design to creating employment opportunities for artisans and other professionals.

Governor Abiodun also announced plans for a comprehensive Urban Renewal and Rejuvenation Process across the state, commencing with the old Abeokuta housing scheme, in collaboration with the United Kingdom Development Office. He commended Oki for bringing honor to the state and country and expressed optimism about the potential synergy between Oki, RIBA, and Ogun State.
