Ogbeni Odulate Meets Occupants Over Encroached LG Land, Moves Toward Lawful Resolution

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, on Wednesday held a management meeting at his office to address the growing concerns over the encroachment and unauthorized occupation of Local Government land.

The meeting brought together the Local Government’s administrative heads, members of the Land Advisory Committee led by its Chairman, Bashorun Adebayo Awosanya, as well as several individuals currently occupying portions of the affected land.

Discussions focused on verifying the true status of the land, engaging directly with the occupants, and outlining steps toward resolving the illegal occupation in line with due process.

During the engagement, the occupants openly admitted that they were occupying government land without formal approval. They acknowledged the lack of legal authorization for their actions and appealed to the Executive Chairman and other government officials for leniency as the Local Government considers its next actions.

Ogbeni Odulate appreciated their honesty but made it clear that public property must be safeguarded and that the law remains paramount. He added that the Local Government would address the situation with fairness, guided by due procedure and the recommendations of the Land Advisory Committee.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that further engagements would take place to determine lawful resolutions, including possible timelines for compliance.
