Damilare Mohammed Bello Foundation Hosts 6th Ramadan Lecture Emphasizing Act of Give and Take in Islam
The Damilare Mohammed Bello Foundation commemorated its 6th Annual Ramadan Lecture with a thought-provoking discourse on the theme: “Returning Favour in Islam – Act of Give and Take.” The event drew a distinguished gathering of traditional, religious, and political leaders, underscoring the significance of community solidarity and charitable acts in Islamic culture.
Among the eminent attendees were His Royal Highness, Oba S.A. Bello, the legendary royal father of Ilupeju; Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, the Radanuwa of Idado Kingdom; Alagura of Agura, Oba Oladimeji Allison; Kabiyesi-elect, Alado of Ado; Grand Chief Imam of Remoland, Sheikh Alhaji Sheu Abdul Qoadir Junaid; and Honourable Dr. Oladipupo Adebutu, represented at the event by Honourable Jasper. Also present was Olori Alfa of Remoland, Sheikh Quasim Musabaudeen, who delivered the guest lecture.
In his lecture, Olori Alfa Sheikh Quasim emphasized the importance of the act of give and take as a core principle of Islamic culture. He highlighted that generous giving, especially during Ramadan, brings reciprocal blessings, encouraging Muslims to adopt practices like Zakat and Sadaqat. He commended Honourable Damilare Mohammed Bello as a shining example of this virtue, urging all faithful to emulate such acts of charity.
Honourable Damilare Mohammed Bello, in his closing remarks, expressed gratitude to the attendees for their unwavering support towards the foundation’s initiatives. Demonstrating his commitment to community welfare, he announced a donation of One Million Naira to the Widows Project, which supports vulnerable women in the community. Additionally, he donated another One Million Naira on behalf of Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu, popularly known as Lado, further demonstrating solidarity with the cause. Several other dignitaries also made generous contributions to the project, reflecting a collective effort to uplift the less privileged.
The event not only celebrated the spirit of giving inherent in Islam but also reinforced the foundation’s mission to foster community care, support the aged, and empower widows. It was a remarkable gathering that underscored the enduring values of charity, compassion, and communal responsibility during the sacred month of Ramadan.
