Kwankwaso Describes Tinubu’s Marriage to Remi as ‘Muslim-Christian Ticket’

Vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has described President Bola Tinubu as a politician who values religious balance, while criticising calls for another Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Kwankwaso made the remark in an interview with DCL Hausa while responding to comments by Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Jingir, who had advocated the continuation of the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

According to reports of the interview, Kwankwaso said Tinubu had historically supported Muslim-Christian or Christian-Muslim combinations in Lagos politics. He also referred to Tinubu’s marriage to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, a Christian, saying the President practises a Muslim-Christian “ticket” with her “in the other room.”
