Adeleke Calls for Peace After Osun Re-election as APC Weighs Legal Options
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called for peace and unity across the state following his re-election in Saturday’s governorship election, urging residents to put political differences aside and heal the wounds of pre-election tensions.
Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing 511,067 votes. His closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes, giving Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
The governor won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in the remaining 11 LGAs. The result gives Adeleke another four-year term in office.
Meanwhile, the Osun APC says it is reviewing the election results across the state and consulting its legal team before determining its next course of action. The party said it would consider the legal avenues available under the electoral laws if necessary.
Adeleke has pledged to focus on governance and development during his second term, while calling on political opponents and residents to work together for the peace and progress of Osun State.
