Ode Remo Youth Association Urges Stronger Community Security.

The leadership of the Ode Remo Youth Association (ORYA), led by its president, Comrade Oluwamuyiwa Ogunbote, has submitted a comprehensive security report to the Alaye Ode of Ode Remo, His Royal Highness Oba Surv. Adetunji Amidu Osho, FNIS, Owadaniyan II.
The report follows a series of security breaches that have heightened concern among residents and prompted calls for a coordinated response to insecurity in the community.
In response, Ogunbote established an ad hoc security committee to investigate the causes of the incidents, identify possible gaps in existing arrangements and recommend practical measures to restore and maintain peace.
According to the association, the committee’s report was informed by investigations, consultations and discussions with stakeholders in and around Ode Remo. The committee engaged traditional community leaders, including Baales and Olorituns, as well as relevant security agencies. The consultations aimed to gather information, assess the circumstances surrounding the breaches and identify areas requiring urgent attention.
ORYA said lasting security depends on shared responsibility, effective intelligence gathering and close cooperation among residents, security agencies and traditional institutions. It described the report’s submission as an important step towards strengthening local security arrangements and preventing criminal activity.
The association thanked Oba Osho for his guidance and support, and welcomed his assurance that the report and its recommendations would receive attention. ORYA said the monarch’s response reflected concern for the safety and welfare of the community and highlighted the value of collaboration between traditional leadership and organised youth groups.
The association also expressed appreciation to the ad hoc committee, community leaders, security personnel and other stakeholders who contributed information, took part in consultations or supported the initiative.
ORYA urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with recognised security agencies and share credible information through appropriate channels. It also cautioned against circulating unverified reports that could cause unnecessary alarm or tension.
The youth association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a safe, peaceful and harmonious community. It said security is essential to economic growth, education, social stability and residents’ overall well-being.
ORYA called on stakeholders to support the implementation of appropriate recommendations in the report and maintain the cooperation needed to address security concerns. The association said its work covers Ode, Iraye, Eposo, Ogunmogbo and Aare, and stressed that protecting lives and property across these communities is a collective responsibility.
“The safety of our people must remain a collective priority, and the peace of our community must never be taken for granted,” the association said, calling for continued cooperation so residents can live, work, study and conduct business without fear.
