METHSECO SAGAMU 1978-83 SET HOLDS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, INAUGURATES NEW EXECUTIVES
The Methodist Comprehensive College, Sagamu, Old Students Association, 1978-1983 set, held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Lord Bashy Event Centre, off Hospital Road, Adodi Junction, Sagamu.

The meeting was hosted by Omooba Abiola Ogundeko, Media and Publicity Adviser to Remo GDF and Master of Ceremonies for the METHSECO ’83 set. Members were received alongside the outgoing executives led by President, Col. Dele Oyefuga (rtd), Vice President, Alhaji Kehinde Adejumobi, and other members of the executive council.
The programme commenced with an opening prayer by Dr. Mrs. Victoria Raji, followed by the rendition of the school anthem led by the outgoing President and Vice President at the invitation of the MC.
In his welcome address, Pastor Sola Jonathan, who also served as Chairman of the AGM, commended the executive committee for its dedication and service. He noted that the association had grown significantly from a strong foundation, including the creation of a WhatsApp platform that reconnected old students and demonstrated their commitment to building a formidable alumni body.
In his farewell address, Col. Oyefuga thanked members at home and in the diaspora for their unwavering support, advice and financial contributions. He highlighted key projects executed under his leadership, including renovation work on the Science Building and improvements to the school’s soak-away system. He disclosed that the borehole project for the Science Laboratory, which is currently ongoing, had been handed over to the incoming executives for completion.
Delivering the financial report, Financial Secretary and Treasurer, Barr. Toun Bamidele, revealed that the association’s account grew from zero balance to over One Million Naira, driven by prompt payment of the N50,000 annual dues by members. She also disclosed that Col. Oyefuga personally donated N2 Million to support the association’s projects, while funds for the Science Laboratory borehole project had been entrusted to Pastor Jonathan for execution. She appreciated members for their financial discipline.
The meeting also featured a health talk by Dr. Akinwale Tikare and Dr. Moturayo Adetola, who sensitised members on gum disease and its link to diabetes and heart disease. They explained that plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that builds up on teeth, noting that gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease while periodontitis is the advanced stage. They advised that healthy gums are firm and pink, while unhealthy gums often appear red and swollen.
In recognition of meritorious service, awards were presented to outgoing executives including General Secretary, Mrs. Taiwo Okeyemi; Financial Secretary and Treasurer, Barr. Toun Bamidele; Welfare Officer and Public Relations Officer, Omolara Elizabeth; Vice President, Alhaji Kehinde Adejumobi; and President, Col. Dele Oyefuga (rtd).
