Amusan Wins Brescia 100m Hurdles Ahead of Diamond League Final
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan won the women’s 100m hurdles at the Grand Prix Brescia in Italy on Sunday, clocking 12.56 seconds.
Amusan overcame a 1.7 metres-per-second headwind to finish ahead of American Alaysha Johnson, who placed second in 12.62 seconds. Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent finished third in 12.75 seconds, according to the official World Athletics results.
The victory came three days after American Olympic champion Masai Russell broke Amusan’s women’s 100m hurdles world record at the Zurich Diamond League.
Russell ran 12.09 seconds in Zurich to lower Amusan’s previous world record of 12.12 seconds, set at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Amusan finished second in that race in a season-best 12.23 seconds.
Amusan has already secured her place in the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final, scheduled for September 4–5 in Brussels, Belgium. Her Brescia victory provides another strong result as she heads into the season-ending competition.
