Four Killed, One Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash at Ipara Remo

 

Four people were killed and another injured in an early-morning road crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Straight Gate School, Ipara Remo, Ogun State.

 

The crash occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday and involved a blue Mitsubishi Cabstar and an ash-coloured HOWO truck. The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said eight people were involved in the incident.

 

According to the FRSC, four male adults died, one male adult sustained injuries, while three others escaped unhurt. The injured victim was taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FOS Mortuary, Ipara.

 

The FRSC said its preliminary investigation identified speed violation and wrong overtaking as factors in the crash, while fatigue was also cited as a contributing factor. The agency said its rescue team received the report at 4:33 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 4:39 a.m.

 

The two vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Police Motor Traffic Division, Isara, for further investigation.

 

The FRSC urged motorists to avoid speeding, fatigue and unsafe overtaking, particularly during early-morning journeys, and advised drivers to rest adequately before travelling.
