NUC Approves 30 New Programmes for Federal University Dutse

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 30 new academic programmes for the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval, contained in a letter dated September 11, 2026, also cleared the university to commence academic activities under its Faculty of Law. The letter was signed by the NUC Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, and addressed to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ahmad Mohammed Gumel.
Among the newly approved undergraduate programmes are Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems and LL.B. Common and Islamic Law. Other additions include Community Health, Medical Laboratory Science, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Optometry, Parasitology and Entomology, Applied Geology and Remote Sensing, as well as several Education programmes.
The approval also covers postgraduate programmes, including PGD, Master’s and PhD programmes in areas such as Forestry and Wildlife, Accounting, Treasury and Finance, Banking and Finance and Information Technology.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor described the approval as an important step in the university’s academic expansion, noting that the new programmes focus on technology, health, science education and other emerging areas.
The development expands the range of academic programmes available at Federal University Dutse ahead of the 2026/2027 academic session, subject to the university’s admission and implementation arrangements.
