Opposition Parties Meet in Abuja to Chart 2027 Cooperation Strategy
Opposition political parties and political actors are expected to converge on Abuja today, Monday, August 31, 2026, for a summit convened by the G-100 to discuss cooperation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The summit, organised by the G-100 and led by former Director-General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Salihu Lukman, is focused on developing a framework for cooperation and coordination among opposition parties ahead of the elections.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) have confirmed their participation in the meeting.
The summit follows consultations among opposition political groups on the need for greater cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections. Discussions are expected to centre on how opposition parties can work together despite differences over political alliances and electoral strategies.
The G-100 has advocated stronger coordination among opposition parties, arguing that political fragmentation could weaken their ability to mount an effective challenge in the 2027 elections.
