Otunba Gbenga Daniel Announces Free Medical Mission for 15,000 Ogun East Residents.

Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has announced a free medical mission expected to serve more than 15,000 residents across the senatorial district.
The outreach will run from October 9 to 24, 2026, as part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF). It will provide free consultations, medication, eye and dental care, as well as major and minor surgical procedures.
More than 50 doctors are expected to take part, including medical professionals from the United States-based Sharing Hope Medical Mission. Organisers say the programme is intended to make healthcare accessible to residents who may be unable to afford treatment, particularly specialised services.
The planned procedures include gynaecological and orthopaedic surgeries, as well as plastic surgery for burn-related conditions. Patients will also be able to receive general medical assessments, prescribed medication and eye and dental services.
Beyond direct care, the initiative will include professional development for Nigerian healthcare workers. Participating practitioners are expected to receive internationally recognised training and certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Stop the Bleed and Advanced Paediatric Life Support.
The visiting American medical team will also deliver advanced surgical lectures, giving local professionals an opportunity to learn from international specialists and strengthen their clinical skills.
To improve coordination and manage attendance, organisers have decentralised the programme across the nine local government areas in Ogun East. The mission is scheduled to begin on October 9 in Ijebu North Local Government Area, with services planned at Kabiesi Solaja Hall, 4 Four Junction, Atikori, Ijebu-Igbo, and on Bojowa Street, opposite Wema Bank, Ago-Iwoye.
Organisers say the outreach combines immediate medical assistance with longer-term capacity-building for healthcare practitioners. By bringing consultations, treatment and specialist procedures closer to communities, the programme is expected to help residents access services that might otherwise be difficult to obtain.
The mission’s organisers anticipate that thousands of people will benefit during the two-week exercise, while the training component will support healthcare workers in responding to trauma, cardiac emergencies, paediatric cases and other urgent medical needs.
The initiative forms a major part of the GFF anniversary programme and is aimed at delivering practical health support to communities throughout Ogun East.
