PDP Storms Sagamu in Massive Show of Force Ahead of 2027

On Wednesday 7th October 2026, Sagamu stood still as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took its 2027 mobilisation campaign to the heart of sagamu, in what has been described as one of the party’s largest grassroots outings yet.
Leading the train was the party’s Ogun State governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, alongside his wife, Mrs. Adenike Adebutu. They were joined by the PDP candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District, Alhaji Abdulhameed Femi Omotayo (Omo-Owo), and the candidate for Remo Federal Constituency, Asiwaju Bolarinwa Oluwole (ABO).
Thousands of supporters, party faithful and residents from across Sagamu, Ikenne, Remo North and beyond trooped out, turning the rally ground into a sea of PDP colours and chanting solidarity songs.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, the candidates delivered a unified message – Ogun State must be rescued and protected.
They called on the people to vote for leaders who see Ogun as their motherland, not as an enterprise. According to them, while some opponents view the state as a means of personal enrichment, their own aspiration is anchored on service, heritage preservation and inclusive development.
In a direct appeal to families, the candidates urged mothers to take the message home, to speak to their children, husbands and neighbours on the need to participate actively and peacefully in the electoral process.
“We regard this state as our motherland. We are here to protect it, not to plunder it,” Adebutu declared, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
The candidates assured residents of their commitment to a free, fair and credible election, promising that every vote would count.
“Come out in your thousands on election day. Do not be afraid. Your vote is your power, and it will count,” Omotayo (Omo-Owo) told supporters.
At the rally, supporters described Adebutu as a politician with a track record of giving back and staying connected to the grassroots, a quality they said was evident in the massive, voluntary turnout.
From market women to youth groups, artisans and community leaders, the attendance cut across demographics, underscoring the PDP’s renewed push to reclaim its base in Remo.
Sagamu rally marks yet another bold step in the PDP’s statewide grassroots mobilisation strategy as the party intensifies consultations across the nine local governments of Ogun East and the entire Ogun State ahead of the 2027 polls.
With momentum building, the message from Sagamu was loud and clear: Ogun PDP is back on the streets, and it is taking its message directly to the people.
