PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: ODÚN ORÒ AND IGBALU FESTIVAL 2026.

The leadership of Owu-Ijebu Kingdom has announced a township-wide lockdown and restriction of movement during the observance of the sacred Odún Orò and Igbalu spiritual rites.
The restriction will be in effect from Friday, 9 October, to Thursday, 15 October 2026, across Owu-Ijebu Township. Residents, visitors, traders and motorists are advised to remain indoors throughout this period and to follow the community’s instructions.
All markets, shops and public places within the township will be closed while the rites are underway. Members of the public are therefore encouraged to make any necessary arrangements ahead of the announced dates and avoid travelling into or around Owu-Ijebu during the restriction.
The kingdom says the measures are intended to preserve the sanctity of the cultural and spiritual observances. It acknowledges that the temporary closures and limits on movement may cause inconvenience, and asks residents and visitors for their understanding and cooperation.
The announcement was issued by High Chief Taofeeq Olumade, the Olowa-Mise of Owu-Ijebu Kingdom, on behalf of the kingdom’s leadership.
