LIDERO FESTIVAL DAY 5: Outreach, Empowerment, and Friendly Rivalry Mark the Day

Day 5 of the ongoing Lidero Festival was filled with acts of compassion, skill-building achievements, and lively sporting spirit, as activities spanned from a heartfelt outreach at the Nigerian Correctional Center, Isale Oko, to the closing ceremony of the month-long Skill Acquisition Programme, and concluded with a friendly novelty football match at St. Paul School, Ayepe Road.
The day began with a special visit to the Nigerian Correctional Center by His Royal Highness, Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, who addressed the inmates with words of encouragement. The monarch urged them to remain hopeful, prayerful, and resilient, describing many as “victims of circumstance” and assuring them that “this is not the end of the world.” He stressed that no one was judging them, and encouraged them to look forward to a better future.
In a gesture of goodwill, clothes, toiletries, and food items were donated to the inmates. Oba Soile further promised that such visits would not be a one-time effort but part of a continuous show of support to the correctional facility.
Later in the day, attention shifted to the Skill Acquisition Programme’s closing ceremony at St. Paul School. The programme, which began a month ago, trained participants in diverse fields such as makeup and gele tying, baking, nail artistry, bead making, soap production, and more. The initiative aimed to empower participants with practical skills for self-reliance and improved livelihoods.
The programme was sponsored by prominent individuals including Chief Adetola Odumosu (Mayegun), Mrs. Abosede Olushile Ojifunmilayo (CEO BossyFood), Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (Danku), Hon. Damilare Mohammed Bello (Dre), Alhaji Apelogun Samsondeen (All Rounder), Dr. Jamiu Adeshola Oyenuga (Jasper), Mrs. Mariam Soyemi (CEO OTP Foods), and the CEO of Blue Roof. Facilitators included Omosalewa Adele, Omotoke Adetayo (Patricia Creations), Joseph Blessing (Ayanfe Cakes n’ More), Mrs. Adeleye (Holy Majestic Chemicals), Mrs. Modupe Koledoye (Diamond Events), and Olayinka Opeyemi.
The day’s events concluded with a novelty football match at St. Paul School, adding a fun and competitive edge to the celebrations. The game drew cheers from the crowd, as teams played with passion and camaraderie, embodying the unity and festive spirit that the Lidero Festival continues to promote.
With Day 6 approaching, the festival’s blend of culture, community service, and celebration shows no sign of slowing down.
