Lidero Festival 2025 Concludes with Grand Finale in Sagamu

The week-long Lidero Festival 2025 drew to a colorful close on Friday, 15th August 2025 in Idado Sagamu with a grand finale attended by traditional rulers, dignitaries, community leaders, and residents.
The event opened with prayers led by Apostle Olabode Isaac, JP, followed by a welcome address from Chief Adeyinka Adefemi, the Oluwo of Idado land and Chairman, Planning Committee of Lidero Celebrations and Festival 2025. In his speech, he highlighted the objectives of the festival and reflected on the eight-day programme, which included: skill acquisition training, Iwure Owuro Ilase, Iwure Ijo Adulawo, Jumat prayers, Igunwa Oba (Agemo), the Lidero rite, Iwode, Ita Agemo, a marathon race, ram competition, Christian Association fellowship, Egungun festivals, correctional centre outreach, novelty match, youth carnival, Ije Agemo, talent hunt, sanitation drive, kids and young adults funfair, beauty pageant, and award night.
The skill acquisition programme, which began earlier in the festival, was designed to empower young people and women with practical vocational skills, promote self-reliance, and reduce unemployment in the community. Certificates were presented to graduates during the grand finale, underscoring the festival’s commitment to empowerment and capacity building.
The day’s highlights also included Ewi recitations, cultural displays by the Isoko community, homage-paying by trade associations, the launch of a ₦100 million security fund, and the introduction of a scholarship project to support education among youths.
The event was graced by several royal fathers, including HRH Oba Olatunji Osho, the Odogun of Ipoji; HRH Oba Mukaila Olabinjo, the Eleposo of Eposo; HRH Oba Lukman Adebambo Salami, the Ebi of Idena; and HRH Oba Moshood Owodina, the Oniraye of Iraye, alongside other dignitaries, oloris, and community leaders.
In his goodwill message, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, HRM Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, CFR, LLB, LLM, FCA, FBR, DSc Torungbuwa II, commended the people for their unity and commitment to cultural preservation while stressing the importance of education, empowerment, and security.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, the Radanuwa of Idado and chief host of the festival, expressed gratitude to the Akarigbo, the Radanuwa-in-Council, and the community for their unwavering support.
The grand finale closed with music, dance, and celebration, bringing to an end eight days of rich cultural heritage, spirituality, and communal pride.
