The Elepe of Epe, His Royal Highness, Oba Adewale Osiberu, has called for a united and collective approach to strengthen security and protect lives and property across Sagamu and Remo Land in Ogun State.

Oba Osiberu made the call while expressing concern over security challenges facing the area, stressing that lasting peace cannot be achieved by security agencies alone but requires the active cooperation of traditional institutions, community leaders, and residents.

According to the monarch, a secure and peaceful environment is fundamental to the social and economic prosperity of Remo Land, as it allows markets to thrive, businesses to grow, schools to function, and families to live without fear.

The Elepe noted that effective security rests on three pillars: *professional policing, timely intelligence, and public participation.* He urged residents to be vigilant and support security agencies with credible and timely information that could help prevent crime and ensure swift response to emergencies.

While commending police patrols and ongoing security operations for their role in deterring criminal activities and responding to distress calls, Oba Osiberu emphasised that such efforts must be backed by adequate resources, professional conduct, and open communication between security personnel and the communities they serve.

As a custodian of tradition and community values, the monarch reaffirmed his commitment to fostering dialogue among stakeholders and bridging the gap between residents and security authorities. He noted that traditional rulers remain critical voices in listening to grassroots concerns, promoting peaceful coexistence, and preventing violence.

Oba Osiberu also acknowledged the complementary role of lawful community-based security outfits, but cautioned that such groups must operate within the confines of the law and in proper coordination with official security agencies.

The royal father further appealed to residents to avoid spreading unverified information on social media, warning that misinformation fuels fear and erodes public confidence. He particularly charged youths to embrace peace, shun violence, and channel their energy into productive ventures that strengthen community ties.

According to him, sustainable security in Remo Land will depend on accountability, prompt response to credible reports, and continuous engagement between government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and the people.

“Safeguarding Sagamu and Remo Land is a shared responsibility. We must all come together — government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and residents — with trust and a common determination to protect our communities,” Oba Osiberu stated
