POLICE BUST ALLEGED BABY FACTORY IN MOWE, RESCUE PREGNANT WOMEN, CHILDREN

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have uncovered an alleged baby factory and arrested six suspects in Abaren Village, Mowe, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
The police said the operation, carried out on Monday, August 24, followed sustained intelligence gathering over alleged human trafficking and illegal adoption activities in the area.
According to the Command, two pregnant women, said to be seven and eight months pregnant, as well as four children, were rescued during the operation.
Six suspects were arrested, including two women, three men and a nurse, who are currently assisting the police with the investigation.
The police also disclosed that a newborn baby delivered at the facility on August 20 remains unaccounted for.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives of the Mowe Division for the operation and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
He also called for increased public support in the fight against human trafficking, child exploitation and other forms of abuse.
